"Spartan Warrior "

Invited back again in February 2010 for the Fire and Ice Festival in Sturgeon Bay, WI. This time I chose to do a bust of a crazy eyed Spartan Warrior with his metal helmet and brush top. It is intended to look as though it was carved from white marble, and with the great quality snow we had this year it almost did appear to be stone. It carved like butter, and took surface finishing quite well. This took about 6 1/2 hours to complete, and like last year was carved from a 4'x4'x8'tall block

"Snow Diver "

This is hand carved from a semi-frozen solid block of snow. The block was 4'x4' by 8' high. I added nearly 2 more feet to the height of the block to accomodate the fins. I was one of 8 professional snow sculptors participating in the exhibition in Sturgeon Bay, WI on Valentine's day 2009. It took 6 1/2 hours to complete. The diver is swimming down headfirst in front of a rock/reef wall to pick up a starfish from the bottom. There is also a large oyster with a pearl inside to the diver's right.
